"A real companion and indispensable dog
is an accident of nature. You can't get it by breeding for it, and you can't buy
it with money. It just happens along." - E B White
Lucy is a young female Pit mix,
maybe 1 year old. She is very friendly and plays well with all the dogs. She is house trained now and settles down nicely in the house. She is pretty good on a leash and really just wants to be loved.
She only weighs about 40
lbs. and is up to date on all her shots. She is already spayed and ready for
her new loving home.
This little guy is
was also at the kill shelter and ready to be euthanized. He is about 18 months,
very affectionate and friendly with both dogs and people. We are not sure of
the breed, but he too appears to be part pit bull. He’s quite small though -
has a long body, similar to a Basset Hound or Dachshund, but taller.
All we are sure of is that he would have been
euthanized, and he’s friendly. He’s being fostered right now, but needs a
permanent forever home. As we get updates, we’ll provide them. We would be
willing to offer him free to a good home willing to love him forever.
Ella is
a blonde, beautiful girl! She is a Border Collie mix, about 3
years old and is a medium sized dog, but on the smallish side. She has been tied up most of her life and has
a ring of missing hair around her neck from the chain (it is growing back in).She
loves peopleand will tolerate other dogs most of the time, but is very jealous
(as some beautiful girls are) and can
be snippy toward other female dogs. She has been exposed to cats and we are told she is fine with them. Her best placement might be as the only
dog in the family.
We just rescued
"Levi" from the kill shelter, and he was certainly happy to get out
of there. He's a young male Rottie mix about 1 year old, not very tall, he may
have some lab in him too? He's very friendly and affectionate. Helikes to ride in the car and loves to
kiss.He has not shown any aggression
with the other dogs - males or females.
He'll be neutered and vet
checked soon. He is free or a donation to a qualified owner.
Jackson, a Jack Russell Terrier, is
almost 11 years old and would be perfect for our Seniors Program. He is a
very loving and affectionate dog. He likes going for walks and playing
with his tennis ball. He is starting to slow down and loves to snuggle up
and cuddle. He is neutered, up to date on all shots and is house trained.
He only eats dog food as table food upsets his stomach. He is a good
watch dog and usually only barks when people are present outside the
house. He does not get along well with other animals and would likely be
best suited as an only pet. He is Very good with children. Please help
this guy find a loving home.
Scruffy is a 9 year old lab mix. He's still active and loves people. He'd be great as an only dog, but gets along well with others. He's housetrained and walks great on a leash.
He was rescued as a stray by a nice lady but she's had a hard time finding a home for him. He'll make a great companion for someone.
Free to anyone over 55 years old as part of our Seniors for Seniors Program.
This is Lucky, another Senior Beagle... rescued by the same nice lady that has been caring for Scruffy. He's about 10 years old and just a sweet old guy.
He'shouse trained and up to date on his shots and has been well cared for.
He is also free to anyone 55 years old or over as part of our Seniors for Seniors program.
They call him "Puppy"... he's an adoreable Plott Hound about 2.5 years old. We had him advertised about 1 1/2 years ago - at that time he was in a cast on his right leg after being shot. He's of course fully healed now.
He had gotten adopted but the people couldn't keep her after they moved out of the area. He's back with the people that originally rescued him after the gunshot, but they can't permanently keep him either.
He would probably do best with a family that can let him run and exercise, then relax at home as you see here. He's up to date on his shots, neutered, and ready for a FOREVER home.
What a handsomedog this is. He was so nice that we had to rescue him from the kill shelter.
It’s unfortunate there are so many of these guys lining up to be euthanized,
but people apparently keep breeding them. We try to save them all, but as you
can see, our web-site is becoming dominated by this breed.
This guy appears to be as gentle as they come, and
we found a foster home willing to provide him respite care temporarily. We
would be willing to adopt him free, to an owner that would provide a loving,
forever home.
Mocha is a 6 year
old male Chow – Border Collie mix (among other things). He spent the better
part of his life tied to a tree and a dog house. He’s lying at my feet now
quite content to be inside. He’s very affectionate, actually hard to believe how
loving he is. He is neutered and his shots are up to date. He did fine with his
much needed bath too.We would love to
find him a home where he could be someone’s true love.
He had shown some
aggression in the past when he and a sister or two would break free from their
chains. They have all been forever tied,
and we are rescuing them one at a time. Mocha has shown no aggression here with
either males or females, just a preference to be with his human. He does need
someone to bond with - he’s truly a good companion.
